Information

When entering Stegbone’s Fish Camp, just leave that other life behind. Nestled on the St. John’s River, this spot is filled with a special, natural beauty. It’s an old-time place without noise, cell phones, or attitudes.  Instead, look for stars, campfires, and comfortable conversation with old and new friends.  Stegbone's is just right for fishing get-aways, church outings, family reunions, viewing nature, or just getting away from the rat-race.

Waterway marker #41 is located nearby, between the Camp and the Ocala National Forest, right across the river. Expect to see all sorts of wildlife - eagles, manatee, alligators, turtles, red fox, wild turkeys, great blue herons, egrets, owls and osprey, to name a few. We’re situated on the National Bird Trail.  Our Boy Scout visitors have found an amazing resource of nature to explore...and merit badges to earn!

And, of course, the fishing is excellent! The surrounding area is appropriately named the Bass Capitol of the World. There are numerous fishing tournaments in the spring and fall. Favored fish, in addition to bass, include copperhead, shell cracker, red bellies, and bluegill.

Stegbone's 100’ covered boat dock has evolved with the fisherman in mind and has been upgraded significantly. Convenience is the primary focus with cleaning table, running water, super-scaler, knives and cutting boards. There’s even a kitchen area with gas stoves and smoker for fish fries. The covered boat slips were built for traditional fishing boats. Rocking chairs encourage the fish tales as bone-tired fishermen unwind after a long day out on the river. Sunsets are spectacular!

Our rental boats, reserved for our guests, are in excellent condition with comfortable seats and well-maintained motors. Trolling motors also available. With advanced notice, we will also have bait on hand!

Not a fisherman?
Stegbones is still a great place to just get away from it all. There are many events and activities in our area, including: Daytona Bikeweek, Biketoberfest, Palatka Blue Crab Festival, Ravine Gardens Azalea Festival, the Crescent City Catfish Festival, and St. Augustine and DeLand are nearby also. For nature lovers, there's no better place than the St.Johns River and we're on the Florida Birding Trail ! Bikers - our camp is motorcycle friendly, in a rural riding area and only 40 minutes from Daytona. That goes for bicyclists, as well. The Welaka State Forest has excellent facilities for horseback riding and trails, not to mention camping and hiking. Kayaks and canoes find the middle and upper St.Johns a wonderful place to explore with nearby springs, creeks and wildlife to view.
